Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler

Company Profile

The decorating firm Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler was founded in the 1930’s by Lady Colefax and the young John Fowler. Known for its mastery of country house style, it became the foremost English decorating firm of the 20th century. Building on those traditions, the company’s current generation of decorators works internationally and has a world-class reputation.

True to their heritage, the six individual decorators work to the highest standards. Clients may be offered a choice as to which of them, with their various areas of expertise, is best suited to the project in mind. Each job is individually tailored according to the tastes and way of life of the client. Interiors in a completely contemporary idiom are often the result.

The decorators are Wendy Nicholls, Emma Burns, Philip Hooper, Roger Jones, Nicola Crawley and Janie Money. William Hodgson heads the Design Studio, undertaking all aspects of architectural and interior design - from producing detailed drawings of cabinetry to designing an entirely new house. This uniquely comprehensive service enables the company to take on projects that involve building from ground level up.
