JACQUELINE RUFUS ISAACS

An exhibition at Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler

Friday, 17th May – Friday, 31st May

Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, the well-known interior design firm, are delighted to be holding an exhibition of
Jacqueline Rufus Isaacs’ recent paintings at their showrooms in Pimlico Road. The exhibition will run from Friday
17th May to Friday 31st May, coinciding with the Chelsea Flower Show.

“Jacqueline Rufus Isaacs’ paintings are a real discovery. Jacquie is a very talented artist; her canvases are always
beautifully composed and painted with a joyous use of colour which leaves a lasting impression. Many of them in this
exhibition feature flowers, an appropriate and happy choice for the week of the Chelsea Flower Show.” says Roger
Jones, design director for Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler.

“About 15 years ago, says Jacqueline, I took up painting as a hobby. I had always loved drawing and painting. I
come from a family which includes some talented artists. I am fortunate to have had some very special teachers who
have inspired and influenced me. Most of my paintings are abstract or figurative but also Still Life and flowers with
emphasis on colours. I was thrilled and honoured, if not rather daunted, when Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler very kindly
offered to show my paintings at their prestigious premises in Pimlico Road during Chelsea Flower Show.

The works I have selected feature The Wychwood – near where I live in the country. I very often walk through it with
my dogs and I think that it has a very spiritual and secret feel about it which I have tried to capture in acrylic.
Empty Vessels – inspired by a friend of mine who is a potter. I loved the shapes. An oil on canvas. Lily the Pink – lilies
are one of my favourite flowers. In the summer I have masses of pots of them on the terrace. This is one example,
finished oil on board. Remembrance – most Wednesdays I paint at the Sketch Club, Chelsea, which is close to the
Royal Hospital. This was painted in November when poppies were being sold by the Pensioners in their fine scarlet
tunics. Oil on board.”
