THE DECORATORS PAINT

“Our colours are about making backdrops for interiors,” says Emma Burns on the capsule range of paints by Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler.  Accustomed to mixing bespoke colours for private clients, today the decorators bring their unparalleled expertise to the world of ready-mixed paints.  Launched initially in six shades, a new arrival – Saffron – Joins the considered collection.  “They are colours we use in our own surrounding, which are both strong and neutral enough to allow us to change the look of the fabric, paintings and furniture we put against them,” explain joint MD’s Emma Burns and Philip Hooper.

Founded in the 1930s, Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler has been synonymous with the English country house aesthetic for nearly a century.  Relaxed, inviting, deeply comfortable and entirely personal, today the look is interpreted by a team of seven decorators.  “Decades of experience inform our colour choices,” continues Hooper.  “We understand which colours work well in different architectural situations, what will create interesting light and shade, what will create a warm and inviting atmosphere.”

On Saffron, Burns explains: “It’s an elusive warm terracotta, flexible for use in any room.  From Saffron to rich, historical Brook, our colours bring longevity.  With them, you can create a home that looks like you’ve lived in it for 30 years, when you’ve actually put it together over a couple of weekends.”
